On my old site, I had a huge section with endless detail on my mundane existence, but I decided to trash it This Time Around. Actually, it had come close to extinction several times, but I kept it becuase it was just too damn funny. Would that I could write like that everyday. It was just too un-cool and out of date, and I thought it might be slicker if visitors could figure my deal out from osmosis reading the site. That's why I've decided to make the journal more prominent. Then I got to thinking that there are some basic factoids that maybe ought to be included in the site anyway. I was going to paste in one of those email chain letters with weird personal questions, but I'm kind of cooling towards that, too. Here's a sample anyway:
You can probably see why I changed my mind on that idea. So the only option left, at least the only one that I can think of at the moment, is just to yack a little bit, no tricks, gimmicks, or special FX. I'm 18 (my birthday is February 6, shared with Ronald Reagan and Tom Brokaw, plus some cool dead folk, like Babe Ruth and Bob Marley), an only child, and I live in Warren, Pennsylvania, a small town in the Allegheny Mountains. Not for long though, being a high school senior, I'm going off to college this fall, to McGill University, in Montréal, Québec, Canada, about an eight hour drive away. As you can tell from looking at my site, I'm into art, music, and literature more than science, computers, and technology. I like all those things too, and in fact have a massive section devoted to what I think is man's crowning achievment of the industrial era, aviation, but my proclivity is more towards the humanities. In addition to the aesthetic pleasures (including airplanes!) celebrated on the site, I am fascinated by language, philosophy, political science, and especially history, and I hope to study all four in college next year. I love travel and adventure, seeing new places and meeting new people. I can't stand to sit still for very long and get bored rather easily. I suppose if I were in kindergarten now, instead of 12 years ago, they'd probably think I needed Ritalin, though I was always (and still am) a pretty good kid in school. Which just goes to show how fucked up the world has gotten. I'm glad I'm done with school soon. I know this was a lame effort at describing myself, but I don't really feel like going into any more detail. Look over my site and read my journal every week or so (it gets updated irregularly) and you'll get an idea. Or, better yet, just get in touch with me and we can have a little conversation. OK? |
