CLIMBING ADVENTURES
Adventure? While climbing in central PA? With the popularity of sport climbing it's difficult enough to find a piece of rock in the East that hasn't been completely developed. Certainly there aren't any cliffs big enough to call for a true, ground-up exploration like the "old time" climbers used to do when they were developing the Gunks, New Hampshire, Yosemite, etc. Well, Central Pennsylvania holds some secrets. I've had the good fortune to climb on a regular basis for years, almost always climbing where no climber has gone before. For me climbing means going out and putting up new routes - from the ground up. It's more fun that way but it's also easier. For the stuff we've been climbing, the cliffs are just too high to top-rope and it's just too much of a pain to get to the top by any other means. And here lies the ADVENTURE - its fun doing this stuff. I'm not some crazy hardcore retro dude though - I carry a BOSCH.
