Hiking

 Cooks Forest has a 27-mile trail network. If you want to experience the beauty of these majestic trees, this is the way to do it. There are sixteen marked trails. Each one has its own unique qualities and sights. The longest trail is about 3 miles and there are several that are just over half a mile. Baker Trail, a 140 mile foot path from Freeport to the Allegheny National Forest. The Forest Cathedral is easy to reach by hiking the Longfellow Trail from the Log Cabin Inn Visitor Center. This area contains the largest primeval white pine and hemlock trees still standing in Pennsylvania. The trees are from 200 to 350 years old and nearly 200 feet tall. Hikers should obtain a map and description of the trails from the park office.
