ALICE SPENCER, currently resides outside Saegertown, Pennsylvania,
in the Crawford County Care Center. She's been a resident there over ten years now,
and enjoys making new friends. Prior to moving to Saegertown, Alice grew up in Meadville, Pennsylvania
where she completed the eighth grade. Alice spent much of her life taking care of
her siblings and their children, especially her favorite nephew Todd. Alice has been confined to a wheelchair since she fell down a flight of stairs. She
had previously been able to come home for visits, but is no longer able to do so after
a group of incompetent caretakers broke her legs on a trip to Pittsburgh. She's active
in many of the Care Center's resident committees, and is chairperson of the Resident
Council Activities Committee. Alice's current interests and hobbies include reading, exercise, religion and physical therapy.
The above photograph features Alice in the center surrounded by (from the left) her brother Bruce Spencer, niece Kathy Francisco, Bruce's wife Nancy, sister Larretta Sherrod, and sister Emma Barco, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, December 1995.
