SAM BARCO, currently resides outside Meadville, Pennsylvania,
where he is recovering from knee replacement surgery. He continues to do tax
preparation work, and is retired from being Director of the Crawford County Home.
He was also the secretary of Union Township for 37 years, and served on the
Crawford Central school board during the 50s when Meadville's Senior High was built. Sam grew up in the Meadville area, and served briefly with the army. He attended Allegheny
College, and married Emma Spencer. He has two children, Kit and Brenda, and three
grandsons Todd, Travis and Sammy. Sam has continued to live an active life in his retirement. Along with his tax
work, he also keeps the books for his golf league and for his church. He's a staunch
republican and enjoys conversing about the current goings-on in Washington, particularly
those of his good friend Newt Gingrich who sent Sam an autographed picture for his
birthday last year. Sam's current interests and hobbies include reading, politics, golfing, gardening,
bird watching, going for long walks, physical therapy, and listening to his wife play organ.
